ADP points in short

You need 8 points in a component for the standard rate and 12 for the enhanced rate, the same as PIP. Daily living covers activities 1 to 10. Mobility covers activities 11 and 12.

ADP replaced PIP for new claims in Scotland. Apply through Social Security Scotland, not the DWP.

How this is calculated

The calculator takes the points for the descriptor you choose in each activity, adds them up for each component and compares the totals with the 8 and 12 point thresholds. The weekly amounts come from the 2026/27 rates.

Adult Disability Payment weekly rates, 2026/27
ComponentPointsWeekly rate
Daily living, standard8 to 11£76.70
Daily living, enhanced12 or more£114.60
Mobility, standard8 to 11£30.30
Mobility, enhanced12 or more£80.00

How ADP differs from PIP in practice

  • Social Security Scotland gathers supporting information for you if you ask, such as a letter from your GP.
  • Face-to-face assessments are only used when the information on paper is not enough to decide.
  • You get 42 days to ask for a re-determination, compared with one month for a PIP mandatory reconsideration.

Common questions

Is ADP scored the same way as PIP?

Yes. Adult Disability Payment uses the same 12 activities, the same descriptors and the same 8 and 12 point thresholds as PIP. What changes is how the decision is made: Social Security Scotland makes it, usually from the information you and your professionals send rather than a face-to-face assessment.

How much is Adult Disability Payment in 2026/27?

The daily living part is £76.70 or £114.60 a week. The mobility part is £30.30 or £80.00 a week. These are the same amounts as PIP.

How long do I have to challenge an ADP decision?

You can ask Social Security Scotland for a re-determination within 42 days of getting the decision. If you are still unhappy after that, you can appeal to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland. The time limits are on mygov.scot.

I moved to Scotland and get PIP. What happens?

If you get PIP and move to Scotland, Social Security Scotland moves you on to Adult Disability Payment. You should tell the DWP about the move. Your payments should carry on without a gap while the change happens.
