How we write
We write for people under pressure, often reading on a phone. That means short sentences, plain words and the terms used on DWP and Social Security Scotland letters. We explain jargon the first time it appears.
How we check
Every figure is taken from an official source and linked on the page that uses it. We are appointing a welfare rights adviser to review each calculator; their name and review dates will appear on each page.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help draft and code. A person checks every rule and figure against the official source before it goes live, and we do not publish anything we cannot source.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, please tell us. We aim to fix confirmed errors within 48 hours and list them below.
