Common questions
What is the most PIP you can get?
The enhanced rate of both parts: £114.60 for daily living plus £80.00 for mobility, which is £194.60 a week from April 2026.
How often is PIP paid?
PIP is usually paid every four weeks, in arrears, straight into your bank account. If you are terminally ill it is paid weekly in advance.
Does PIP affect other benefits?
PIP does not count as income for Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Housing Benefit, so it does not reduce them. It can increase them: the daily living part can give you a disability premium in some legacy benefits, exempts you from the benefit cap, and lets someone who cares for you claim Carer’s Allowance.
Is PIP means-tested or taxed?
No. PIP is not means-tested, so your income and savings do not matter, and it is not taxable. You can work and still get it.
Did PIP go up in April 2026?
Yes. The enhanced daily living rate went from £110.40 to £114.60 a week, and the other rates rose by the same 3.8%.
